Alpha Version 0.0.9 + New Game Announcement
Hey, everyone!
First, I wanna start off this post by saying happy pride month! (A little late into the month, whoops) There's been a slight change of plans, as well as a new game in the works that will be discussed later in this devlog, so stay tuned!
With that out of the way, let's get to the point, already: Alpha v0.0.9. I've changed my plans a bit with how these next couple releases are gonna go, so here's the scoop. v0.0.9 is gonna be a bit of an intermission between this and the update promised in the last post and will serve mostly as a quality of life update. A few new things will be added too, though.
Firstly, the UI design has changed a bit; nothing major, but enough to be worth mentioning. There will also be a timer on the indicator to tell you exactly when your spin attack will be off cooldown. Next up, there's gonna be a new upgrade! This one will let you increase the knockback of your attacks to keep enemies away better. On a similar note, a bug with the movement speed upgrade caused it to be completely reset after using an attack has been fixed. Now you can get your zoomies in without having to worry! There's been a few other minor bug fixes, but nothing much worth specifying.
Next one is a pretty big one: the game now has complete controller support. It should work with any controller type, as well as full keyboard support; no need to use the mouse anymore! There's been a few changes to help compensate here as well. Because of these changes, it's impossible to move or attack during the upgrade sequences, so enemy spawns will be disabled until after you get your upgrade picked out. Additionally, the main menu and the upgrade menu have had some tweaks to help make them easier to read and navigate.
Next up: the settings menu! This is a quick one, but the volume sliders actually save when between sessions now. That's it.
Last one for now, let's talk about skins. There's gonna be a few new ones in this update; at least two! The two that I have currently done are both pride month themed skins. I can't say it's likely that this releases by tomorrow, so it might be a little late, but who cares. The skins are both based on pride flags, so keep an eye out in game for those if you're interested. If these skins bother you, there will not be an option to turn them off, so maybe just go play a different game? You wouldn't like this game anyway, everyone here is already fruity~ (See what I did there..?) There's the potential for one or two more skins in this update, but they might get saved for v0.0.10, as well.
Everything mentioned from the last post will be moved over to the update after this, by the by, so don't worry about that.
Now, with all that being said, it's time for the other big announcement of today... I'm going to be publishing a new game! That's right, it's time for another amazing addition to your collection! Well, maybe not just yet... This new game I'm working on is called Princess Panic and is a simple party game which sees you and your friends travelling through a board game-like world and competing against one another to save the princess! It's a fun, simple party game that will be sure to not only tear your friendships apart, but to make you laugh while doing so! The first version of Princess Panic should release sometime next year (hopefully) on steam!
